Autism, Asperger's Summer Camp Sandusky Overview

Haugland Learning Center offers an Autism and Asperger's Summer Camp in Sandusky, Ohio each summer, to current Haugland students. For current students using the Autism Scholarship, the camp is included in the annual tuition cost.

Our camp incorporates activities that focus on the development of social, behavioral and life skills. These skills are not only directly taught but are reinforced through application by direct instruction, hands on lessons, structured parallel play and community-based instruction.

In addition, we consider the individual goals and objectives outlined in the students’ IEPs and incorporate lessons and activities that further work on this individual skill development.

What To Expect

A typical day Haugland’s Autism, Asperger’s Summer Camp Sandusky involves intensive instruction based on individual academic goals and objectives in the morning, lunch, and then interactive skill development in the areas of social, behavioral, life skills and community-based instruction.

Examples of community-based instruction during the camp may include: outings to the library, park, restaurants, museums, bowling alley, etc.  

Enrollment Information

Current Haugland students/clients* and students planning to enroll for the following school year are eligible to attend.

* Students/clients are defined as: students enrolled in one of Haugland’s center-based or home-based programs or clients receiving mental health services, respite.
