Haugland Learning Center-Lancaster is a Charter School for Autism and Asperger’s Students located at 1522 Sheridan Drive in Lancaster, Ohio.

HHaugland incorporates a multiple modality approach to ensure that instruction is differentiated and aligned to the individualized needs of the students.

When teaching a concept, different approaches are utilized (visual, auditory, hands-on, musical, naturalistic, etc.) which increases the probability that the student will personally connect to the content and demonstrate a greater understanding.

Teachers strive to understand each student as an individual learner, consider their thought processes (sequential-pattern, number, picture, or word), and utilize these cues in their instructional presentation.

An additional interactive instructional resource used for some students at the Haugland Autism and Asperger’s School in Lancaster is Compass Learning® which is aligned to State Standards and helps determine the specific grade (learning) level of a student. Detailed feedback of progress is reported and sequential higher learning concepts are suggested for IEP reporting. This resource ensures students are challenged and progressing based on their present levels of performance in a sequential and logical manner.
