About Haugland Learning Center Autism Services

About Haugland Learning Center.
We recognize that that there is a wide variety within Autism Spectrum Disorder.

About Haugland Learning Center Autism Services Overview

Haugland Learning Center has provided autism services to individuals and families since 2004. We currently serve the educational and behavioral needs of over 300 children and young adults with Autism, Asperger syndrome, and other developmental disabilities in the state of Ohio.

We currently operate classroom-based programs in Columbus/Dublin, Lancaster, and Sandusky Ohio. We also operate home-based programs throughout the state. Haugland accepts students from preschool through twelfth grade (including those with behaviors of concern) and is therefore an excellent alternative to public school.

Additionally, we offer a range of other services, including speech therapy, home respite, ABA behavioral consulting, mental health services such as counseling and supportive treatment, and psychological services through our sister companies.

All students with an Autism, Asperger's, or PDD-NOS diagnosis are eligible to receive the Autism Scholarship from the Ohio Department of Education, which can be used to pay for educational services at Haugland. Students with other disabilities may qualify for the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship, which can also be used to pay for services at Haugland.

Additionally, students with any learning disability are eligible for placement at Haugland by their home school district via direct contract. We also accept Medicaid waivers, private insurance, and most other forms of payment. In many cases, services can be paid for entirely with these funding sources.

Our Mission Statement

We provide an environment that promotes academic, social and emotional growth for all individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. We achieve success by using effective instructional methods based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis.

Benefits Of Our Services

  •   COST: Educational costs at Haugland are covered by the Autism Scholarship, Jon Peterson Scholarship, or directly by school districts, making Haugland a quality program that all parents can afford. Other services, such as mental health services, can be covered by private insurance and other funding sources.

Benefits Of Our Services (Cont.)

  •   SOCIAL: Students feel welcomed and accepted at Haugland instead of being singled out because of idiosyncrasies. Many develop friendships for the first time and participate in social activities outside of school.
  •   ACADEMIC: At Haugland, each student’s academic program is designed to maximize their academic success. We build the skills back into every student to help them leap ahead academically!

  •   PEACE OF MIND: Parents can relax, knowing that their child is educated in a safe environment and that their workday will NOT be interrupted by calls to pick up their child for incidents that happen at school.
  •   HOME: Our academic and behavior specialists work with families to develop effective educational and behavioral plans to strengthen both the home environment as well as continue the educational process.
  •   COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM: We offer a full range of services including education and mental health and each program can be customized to provide the maximum benefits to the child and the family.
